About Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

Launched in February 2019, with effect from December 1, 2018, the **PM-KISAN scheme** aims to supplement the financial needs of all landholding farmer families. It provides direct income support to enable farmers to take care of expenses related to agriculture, allied activities, and domestic needs, thereby protecting them from falling into debt.

Under the scheme, an amount of ₹6,000 per year is transferred in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each (April-July, August-November, and December-March) directly into the farmers' Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. This technology-driven approach ensures transparency and reduces leakages.
