The Election Commission of India (ECI) provides mechanisms for citizens to ensure their details are correct and up-to-date, and to remove names that should not be there. This is done through specific forms available online via the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) or offline at electoral offices.

" Voter ID Correction (Form 8)

Form 8 is used for correction, shifting of residence, replacement of EPIC, or marking as PwD.

Steps to Apply (Online via NVSP):

  1. Visit Voter Services Portal.
  2. Login/Register using your mobile number.
  3. Select Form 8.
  4. Fill required details, select corrections, and provide accurate information.
  5. Upload supporting documents (Aadhaar, Birth Certificate, etc.).
  6. Submit and note the Reference ID for tracking.

Documents Required:

  • Identity Proof (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN, Driving License)
  • Address Proof (Utility Bill, Rent Deed, Bank Passbook)
  • Date of Birth Proof (Birth Certificate, 10th Marksheet, Passport)
  • Recent Passport Size Photograph

" Voter ID Deletion (Form 7)

Form 7 is used for objection to inclusion or deletion of a name from the electoral roll.

Reasons for Deletion:

  • Death of elector
  • Permanently shifted residence
  • Duplicate entry
  • Underage voter
  • Non-Indian citizen

Steps to Apply (Online via NVSP):

  1. Login to NVSP Portal.
  2. Select Form 7.
  3. Provide elector's details, reason for deletion, and upload supporting documents.
  4. Submit and save Reference ID for tracking.

Documents Required:

  • Death Certificate (if deletion due to death)
  • New Address Proof (if deletion due to shifting)

  • Go to Track Application Status.
  • Enter your Reference ID.
  • Select your State.
  • View current status (Submitted / Verification / Approved / Rejected).
