Step 1: Get Your Documents Ready

Before you begin the online application, ensure you have scanned copies of the following documents:

• Proof of Identity: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport of both the bride and the groom.
• Proof of Address: Utility bill or rental agreement.
• Proof of Date of Birth: Birth certificate or school leaving certificate.
• Wedding Photographs: A photograph of the wedding ceremony.
• Wedding Card: The official wedding invitation card.
• Witnesses: Identity proof of three witnesses.
• Affidavit: A joint affidavit from the bride and groom stating the date and place of marriage.

Step 2: Online Application Submission

Follow these steps to submit your application on the official portal.

1. Visit the Portal: Go to the official e-District Chandigarh portal.
2. Register/Login: If you are a new user, register your account. Existing users can log in directly.
3. Select the Service: Find the 'Marriage Certificate' section and select the relevant act (Hindu Marriage Act or Special Marriage Act).
4. Fill the Form: Fill out the application form with accurate personal and marriage details.
5. Upload Documents: Upload the scanned copies of all the required documents.
6. Pay the Fee: Pay the required application fee online.
7. Book an Appointment: After submission, book a slot for a physical verification at the Sub-Registrar's office.

Step 3: Verification & Certificate Issuance

On the scheduled date, both parties and the witnesses must be present at the Sub-Registrar's office with the original documents for verification. Once verified, the marriage certificate will be issued, either on the same day or a few days later, and can be downloaded from the portal.
