Understanding Different Licenses

• Learner's License (LL): A temporary license issued to individuals learning to drive. It's valid for 6 months and allows you to drive under the supervision of a permanent DL holder.
• Permanent Driving License (DL): Issued after successfully passing the driving test. It allows you to drive independently. Valid for 20 years or until the age of 40 (whichever is earlier) for non-commercial vehicles, and usually 5 years for commercial vehicles.
• International Driving Permit (IDP): A translation of your Indian Driving License, allowing you to drive in foreign countries that are signatories to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. Valid for one year.

Who Can Apply?

• For Learner's License (LL):
  • Minimum 16 years of age for vehicles without gear (e.g., mopeds up to 50cc) with parental consent.
  • Minimum 18 years of age for private motor vehicles.
  • Minimum 20 years of age for transport vehicles.
  • Must be conversant with traffic rules and regulations.
• For Permanent Driving License (DL):

Applying for a Learner's License:

4. Apply for Learner Licence: Click on "Apply for Learner Licence."
