How to Apply for a New License
The entire application process for the license is online. You need to register on the Labour Department's portal and submit all the required documents.
Step 1: Get Your Documents Ready
Prepare scanned copies of the following documents before you begin the online application.
- Proof of Identity: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport of the applicant.
- Proof of Address: A utility bill (electricity/water) or rent agreement for the business premises.
- Proof of Business: Business registration certificate or a partnership deed.
- Other Details: Details of all employees, including their names, addresses, and dates of joining.
Step 2: Online Application Submission
Follow these steps to submit your application on the official portal.
- Visit the Portal: Go to the official Delhi Labour Department website.
- Register/Login: If you are a new user, register your business and create an account. Log in with your credentials.
- Select the Service: Find the 'Shop and Establishment Act' section and click on 'New Registration'.
- Fill the Form: Complete the online application form with accurate details about your business, including its name, address, number of employees, and business type.
- Upload Documents: Upload the scanned copies of all the required documents.
- Pay the Fee: Pay the application fee online using a debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. The fee varies based on the number of employees.
- Submit Application: After payment, submit the application. You will receive an acknowledgment number that you can use to track the status.
How to Track Status & Renew a License
The same portal allows you to track the status of your application and renew your license.
- Track Status: Click on the 'Track Application' link on the portal and enter your acknowledgment number. The status of your application (e.g., "Pending," "Approved," "Rejected") will be displayed.
- Renew License: A license is typically valid for one year. You must renew it before the expiration date to avoid penalties. The renewal process is also online and requires your existing license number.
