OASIS Scholarship Portal

The OASIS (Online Application for Scholarship in Studies) portal is the main platform for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). The schemes under this portal are managed by the Backward Classes Welfare Department and provide financial assistance for both pre-matric and post-matric students.

Key Schemes:

  • Pre-Matric Scholarship: For students in classes 9 and 10 belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories.
  • Post-Matric Scholarship: For students in class 11, 12, graduation, and post-graduation belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories.

Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM)

Commonly known as the Bikash Bhaban Scholarship, this is a highly popular scholarship for meritorious students from economically weaker sections. It is one of the most generous scholarship schemes in the state, offering a significant amount of financial aid.

Eligibility: Students must be a permanent resident of West Bengal and have secured a high percentage of marks in their previous board examination (typically 60-75% depending on the level of study) and have an annual family income of up to ₹2.5 lakh.

Aikyashree Scholarship (Minority)

Managed by the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC), the Aikyashree portal is an umbrella platform for scholarship schemes for students from minority communities, including Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis. It offers both pre-matric and post-matric scholarships.

Eligibility: Students must belong to a notified minority community, be a resident of West Bengal, and meet specific academic and family income criteria.

Other Key Scholarships

Apart from the major portals, other notable schemes include:

  • Kanyashree Prakalpa: A flagship scheme of the West Bengal government aimed at preventing child marriage by providing financial incentives to unmarried girls to continue their education. The scheme has two components, K1 and K2, offering annual grants and a one-time grant.
