How to Apply for a Birth Certificate
Birth and Death Certificates are important legal documents. In New Delhi, you can apply for these certificates online through the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) portal or the e-District portal.
Step 1: Check Registration Status
First, check if the birth has been registered. The registration of birth or death must be done within **21 days** of the event. If the event occurred in a hospital, the hospital is responsible for providing the information to the Municipal Corporation. You can check the status on the MCD website using the registration number provided by the hospital.
Step 2: Online Application for a New Certificate
If the birth is registered and you need a copy of the certificate, follow these steps:
- Visit the Portal: Go to the official MCD Birth and Death Registration website.
- Click on 'Birth' or 'Death' Search: On the homepage, select the relevant option.
- Enter Details: Fill in the required details, such as the date of birth, name of the father or mother, and place of birth.
- Generate and Download: If the record exists, it will be displayed. You can then download and print the certificate.
